Attended Notre Dame High School in Crowley...Earned four letters in baseball and two letters in football...In 2009-10 academic year, led the football and baseball team to state championships...In baseball, was named Class 3A Player of the Year in senior season and was an All-State selection as a utility player...Was 9-1 with a 1.50 ERA as a pitcher and hit .517 with eight home runs and 45 RBI, helping lead NDHS to a state title...Allowed just 19 runs (14 earned), walked 22 and struck out 91 in 65 1/3 innings...At the plate, had 61 hits (13 doubles, seven triples, eight home runs), a slugging percentage of .949 and struck out just 10 times in 118 plate appearances...Was first team All-State in Class 3A and first team All-Acadiana as a junior after hitting .471 with eight triples, 37 RBI and 18 stolen bases... Also went 6-2 on the mound with a 1.92 ERA...Two-time District 5-3A MVP (2009, 2010)...Set school single-season and career records for hits...Was starting quarterback for the football team...Two-time District 5-3A Offensive MVP...As a senior, completed 61 percent of his passes (87-141) in the regular season for 1,383 yards and 16 touchdowns.
