Teams to play Saturday at 7 p.m.
Â
Playing for the second day at the SBC's alternate playing site, Louisiana (38-22) scored six runs over the final two innings to erase a 5-4 deficit after seven innings and force a winner-take-all match against Texas State (36-23) later on Saturday for a berth in Sunday's SBC Championship Game.
Â
The teams are scheduled to play Saturday night at 7 p.m.
Â
LaSalle, who went 2-for-4 to help lead a 13-hit attack, gave the Cajuns an early 2-0 lead in the second inning when he launched a two-run homer to left field off Texas State starter Alizeah Gutierrez after Drew Markle drew a leadoff walk.
Â
Texas State answered with a run in the bottom half of the second inning before Louisiana added two more in the third on an RBI single by Lee Amedee and an RBI double from Markle.
Â
The Bobcats battled back with two runs in the third inning on Jackson Cotton's two-run single before Clayton Namken's RBI single in the fourth tied the game at 4-4.
Â
After both teams traded scoreless innings through the sixth, the Bobcats took their first lead of the day on Cotton's sacrifice fly to left.
Â
Louisiana responded with a decisive six-run eighth inning. Mark Collins started the rally with a game-tying RBI double before Maddox Mandino added a go-ahead, two-run single. Steven Spalitta followed with an RBI single, and Colt Brown capped the inning with a two-run single after a Texas State error extended the frame.
Â
LaSalle added insurance in the ninth with his second two-run homer of the game – a 456-blast – giving him 10 home runs on the season.
Â
Brown finished 2-for-5 with three RBIs for Louisiana, while Markle collected two hits and an RBI. Collins, Mandino and Spalitta each drove in a run during the eighth-inning surge.
Â
Parker Smith (3-3) earned the victory in relief for Louisiana, tossing the final 5.0 innings while allowing two runs and striking out three. Tyler Papenbrock allowed one hit over 2.0-plus innings with Garret Carter providing 2.0 innings of relief before Smith entered in the fifth inning.
Â
Namken led Texas State, going 2-for-4 with a solo home run in the ninth and two RBIs. Rashawn Galloway, Justin Vossos and Jaquae Stewart each added doubles for the Bobcats.
Â
Dylan Kerbow (1-1) took the loss for Texas State after allowing three runs in the eighth inning. Gutierrez allowed four runs and walked three in 2.0 innings for the Bobcats before Alec Beversdorf fanned four batters and allowed three hits in 4.0 scoreless innings of relief.
