Cajuns Fall To Texas State in SBC Tournament, 4-3

Louisiana to face Coastal Carolina in elimination game on Friday at 3 p.m.
Louisiana (36-22) carried a 3-0 lead into the final inning behind a strong pitching performance from Ty Roman before the Bobcats mounted their comeback against three Cajun relievers.
The Cajuns will face No. 2 seed and No. 24-ranked Coastal Carolina (37-20) in an elimination game on Saturday at 3 p.m. The game will be available on ESPN+ with fans able to listen locally on KPEL-FM (96.5) and worldwide on the Varsity Network app.
Louisiana, who were held hitless until Mark Collins' two-out single in the fourth, broke open a scoreless tie in the third inning against Texas State starter Ryan Markwardt. Owen Galt led off the inning with a walk, stole second, advanced to third on a Texas State error, and scored Maddox Mandino dropped down a sacrifice bunt.
Lee Amedee added to the Cajuns' lead in the eighth when he blasted a solo home run to deep left field for a 2-0 advantage. The Cajuns pushed across another run in the ninth as Blaze Rodriguez grounded out to score Donovan LaSalle, who had reached on an error and moved into scoring position on a single by Galt.
Roman was dominant in his start for Louisiana, holding Texas State hitless through the first six innings while striking out eight. The left-hander, who pitched a season-high 6.1 innings, had his no-hitter broken on Clayton Namken's leadoff single down the right field line before turning the game over to the bullpen after a Bennett Fryman sacrifice bunt.
Texas State (36-22) finally broke through in the ninth inning. Jaquae Stewart led off with a single off Louisiana reliever Hayden Pearson before Namken doubled into the left-center gap.
Sawyer Pruitt (6-4) worked around a walk to load the bases with a pair of strikeouts before Jackson Cotton delivered a hard shot, infield single to score Stewart and cut the deficit to 3-1. Blake Beheler followed with a bases-loaded walk to close to within 3-2, and Rashawn Galloway ended the game with a two-run single through the left side.
Jesus Tovar (9-2) earned the win in relief for Texas State after striking out the lone batter he faced in the ninth.
