Ragin' Cajuns close out five-game road trip; earned 9-3 win over SLU in earlier matchup
LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns baseball team closes out a five-game road trip on Wednesday when it travels east to Hammond to face Southeastern Louisiana at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.
First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. The game will be available on ESPN+ with fans able to listen locally in the Lafayette area on KPEL-FM (96.5) and worldwide on the Varsity Network app.
Louisiana (19-13) opens a four-game week that culminates with a three-game Sun Belt Conference matchup against No. 10-ranked Southern Miss at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park.
The meeting against SLU (20-13) is the second of the season between the schools with Louisiana claiming a 9-3 win over the Lions on March 24. Jayce LaCava and Rigoberto Hernandez each drove in a pair of runs, while Josh Lim belted a three-run homer as the Ragin' Cajuns used a six-run inning to set the tone.
Lee Amedee (.346-2-19) has hit safely in his last 11 games and leads Louisiana in both average and RBI. Colt Brown (.290-1-16), Steven Spalitta (.264-2-13) and Hernandez (.257-3-17) join Amedee as the top hitters for the Ragin' Cajuns.
Southeastern, which earned a 16-3, seven-inning victory over LSU Alexandria on Tuesday, has won seven of its past eight games since facing UL. Peyton Woods (.346-3-14) is the top hitter for the Lions with Justin Williams (.310-5-24) following.
