Louisiana Cruises Past Norfolk State in 4-0 Sweep

LAFAYETTE - The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Women's Tennis team secured a 4-0 sweep over Norfolk State on Sunday, March 1 at Cajun Courts, extending its win streak to five matches and improving to 7-3 on the season.

Louisiana took early control by claiming the doubles point with wins on Courts 2 and 3.

Angelique Berrat and Nina Krecklenberg opened doubles with a quick 6-1 victory over Ines Sabadie and Yana Klimchuk on Court 3 before the Spartans (2-4) drew even with a 6-4 decision on Court 1.

On Court 2, the duo of Ana Martinez Vaquero and Marilou Bressan edged out Angelina Maniawska and Elena Martinez Prado, 6-4, with the doubles point up for grabs, providing the Ragin' Cajuns a 1-0 match lead.

The Ragin' Cajuns carried that momentum into singles play, earning straight-set victories on three courts to clinch the match.

Safia Zenbi was first off the court with a dominant 6-0, 6-1 win over Angelina Maniawska at No. 3 singles. Martina Della Gora followed with a commanding 6-0, 6-0 result against Elena Martinez Prado on Court 4.

Berrat secured the match-clinching point at the top position, defeating Yuliya Yurkova, 6-2, 6-0.

Both Berrat (7-1) and Della Gora (6-1) stretched their personal win streak in singles to five matches. Zenbi, who won a thriller at UT Arlington on Thursday to clinch that victory, picked up her second consecutive singles triumph and capped of a 2-0 week.
