Louisiana Secures Road Doubleheader Sweep in Texas

Zenbi clinches dramatic 4-3 win over UT Arlington before 4-0 sweep caps perfect day
ARLINGTON, Texas – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Women's Tennis team opened its day with a 4-3 victory over UT Arlington and followed with a 4-0 sweep of Weatherford College on Thursday, February 26 at the UTA Tennis Center.
With the pair of victories, Louisiana (6-3) increased its winning streak to four matches – all coming on the road.
After dropping the doubles point to UTA, the Ragin' Cajuns (5-3) responded by winning four singles matches, including three straight-set victories, to secure the road win.
Angelique Berrat set the tone with a dominant 6-0, 6-1 decision over Diana Kaibara at the No. 1 position, leveling the match at 1-1. Ana Martinez Vaquero followed with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 5 singles, and Martina Della Gora added a 6-3, 6-3 triumph at No. 4 to put the Ragin' Cajuns within a point of clinching.
Safia Zenbi delivered the decisive point at No. 3 with a dramatic 7-5, 5-7, 7-5 win over Sofia Selle in a match that swung with every set.
UT Arlington (2-7) picked up wins at No. 2 and No. 6 singles, but the Ragin' Cajuns' resilience in key moments proved the difference. Zenbi's ability to overcome an early deficit in her third-set tiebreaker prevented the Mavericks from forging a 3-all tie.
Louisiana closed the day by blanking Weatherford College, 4-0, to complete a successful trip to the Lone Star state and carry momentum into the team's return home on Sunday, March 1.
