Louisiana, App State Face Off Friday Evening in the Cajundome

Ragin’ Cajuns and Mountaineers meet one day earlier ahead of impending winter weather

LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Women's Basketball team meets App State at the Cajundome on Friday, January 23 at 6:00 p.m. for a contest that was moved up one day earlier due to anticipated weather for the Mountaineers' return to Boone, N.C.

The Ragin' Cajuns (2-17, 1-8 SBC), coming off a 69-66 win over Coastal Carolina to begin this week's two-game homestand, seek back-to-back victories for the first time in the 2025-26 season. It's the only scheduled meeting with the Mountaineers (8-10, 1-7 SBC) this season.

The game will be available on ESPN+, with fans able to listen to the game on The GOAT 103.3 FM and 1420 AM in the Acadiana region and on the Varsity Network worldwide.

Admission to Friday's contest – and all UL Women's Basketball games throughout the entire season – is free and open to the public. The Cajundome's clear bag policy and cashless concessions will be implemented.

The Ragin' Cajuns will reach a milestone on Friday, playing the 1,500th game in program history.

Louisiana is continuing its current stretch of five straight games against eastern-based SBC teams that runs through the February 4 game with Old Dominion at the Cajundome.

Mikaylah Manley led the charge with a career-high 25 points as the Ragin' Cajuns broke into the win column in SBC play with Wednesday's win over Coastal Carolina. The Southern Miss transfer has scored 20-plus points in back-to-back games and leads UL with 12 double-figure scoring games.

Manley's recent increased production has helped offset the absence of the team's leading scorer in SBC play, Imani Daniel (12.3), who sustained an injury at Arkansas State and has missed the last two games.

App State is the Sun Belt's leader and ranks 55th in the NCAA in scoring defense (58.6). The Mountaineers also round out the nation's top 50 in rebound margin (6.3), yielding only 30.6 rebounds per game. Jayden McBride (10.8) leads in scoring while Emma Smith (6.3) is the top rebounder.
