Louisiana Evens Record With 7-0 Sweep Of Southern

Ragin' Cajuns head west to face Texas Tech, New Mexico
BATON ROUGE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's tennis team opened the weekend in dominant fashion, sweeping Southern University 7-0 on Saturday at the Southern Tennis Center.

The duo of Darius Balan and Nikola Kolyachev set the tone early for Louisiana (2-2) with a 6-0 victory at No. 3 doubles over Gabriel Inyang and Jaime Sigauque. Louisiana went on to claim all three doubles matches to secure the opening point.

Leonard Tramolay and Mason Landreth posted a 6-2 win over Zachary and Sebastien Byng at No. 1 doubles, while David Simeonov and Samuel Kyjaci followed with a 6-4 victory against Lwazi Ngwenya and Mpho Leshoele at No. 2.

Kolyachev clinched the match in singles play, earning a 6-1, 6-4 win over Zachary Byng at the No. 5 position.

Balan recorded his second win of the day — and first singles victory of the spring — with a 6-1, 6-0 decision over Inyang at No. 3 singles. Tramolay added a 6-1, 6-1 win over Ngwenya at No. 1, while Landreth matched that score with a straight-set victory against Sebastien Byng at No. 2.

Kyjaci defeated Leshoele 6-3, 6-1 at No. 4, and Gianluca Filoramo completed the sweep with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Emmanuel Oudensi at No. 6.

Louisiana continues its road trip next weekend in Lubbock, Texas. The Ragin' Cajuns face host Texas Tech on Friday at 1 p.m. before closing the weekend with a neutral-site match against New Mexico on Saturday at 11 a.m.
