Louisiana opens four-game road trip with final SBC visit to San Marcos

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball team opens a four-game road swing through the next two weeks when it faces Texas State on Wednesday in a Sun Belt Conference contest at Strahan Arena at the University Events Center.

Louisiana (4-14, 2-4 SBC), which will also play at South Alabama (Jan. 17), App State (Jan. 22) and Old Dominion (Jan. 24) on its four-game swing, makes its final SBC visit to Texas State (9-9, 2-4 SBC), which will join the Pac-12 Conference in July.

The Ragin' Cajuns have won 22 of the 30 contests in the series, which dates back to a non-conference game in 1959 before resuming in 2013-14 when the Bobcats officially joined the SBC.

Louisiana split in its two games last week at home, defeating ULM last Thursday before falling to Troy, 90-70. New Orleans native Dorian Finister tied a career-high with 25 points for Louisiana, with Texas native Dariyus Woodson adding 13.

Texas State comes off a four-game road trip that included tough losses at Arkansas State and Southern Miss. The Bobcats, who are 1-8 on the road, are 8-1 on their home court and have won 11 of their last 13 in Strahan Arena dating back to last season.

Mark Drone leads Texas State in scoring at 13.6 points per game and 18 made 3-pointers, while tied for second on the squad with DJ Hall with 43 assists. Hall averages 13.3 points and a team-best 7.6 rebounds per game for the Bobcats and leads the SBC in field goal shooting (.562).
