Segura Claims Cowboy Stampede Title, Lyon Places Third for Cajuns

Louisiana has one more meet before the SBC Championships
LAKE CHARLES, La. - Ella Segura won the McNeese Cowboy Stampede while three other Cajuns recorded top-five finishes at the McNeese Cowboy Stampede on Saturday.
Segura crossed the finish line in 17:14.20 in the 5K for the win. She was ahead of teammate and second-place finisher Isabelle Russell's time of 17:23.10. In fourth for the Cajuns was Brooke Spalitta with a time of 17:46.00 while Chloe Crowell was seventh at 18:12.80. Rounding out the scorers for Louisiana was Juliana Courville in ninth at 18:15.90. The Cajuns also got top 20 finishes from Camryn Haik, Spencer Frierson, Skylar Delgado, Angelle Dupuis, Samantha Ponzo, and Cate Williamson.
On the men's side, Henry Lyon continued his strong fall by placing third at 19:25.98 in the 4-mile race. Reece Shelby took home eighth with a time of 19:50.09, followed by Mason Haley in 13th at 20:21.10. Also scoring for Louisiana were Peyton Bourgeois in 16th at 20:30.29 and Matthew Maynard in 19th at 20:40.86, while Jackson Jarrett also finished in the top 20.
The Ragin' Cajuns have just one meet remaining before the Sun Belt Conference Championships when they head to College Station, Texas, for the Arturo Barrios Invitational on October 17.
