Louisiana to host pair of events in the spring; opens play at Argent Financial Classic

LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Golf and head coach Theo Sliman officially announced the program's 2025-26 schedule on Friday, a 10-tournament slate that leads into the Sun Belt Conference Championship and NCAA postseason.

Louisiana, which returns three starters from last year's squad, will open the season Sept. 7-9 at the Argent Financial Classic at Squire Creek Country Club in Choudrant, La. The Ragin' Cajuns will host two tournaments in the spring – the Lake Las Vegas Invitational and the 41st annual Louisiana Classics at Oakbourne Country Club.

Led by returning PING All-Region performer and NCAA Regional qualifier Malan Potgieter, Louisiana will make its first-ever appearances at both the Highlands Invitational in suburban Chicago and the Mike A. Marino Classic in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The Ragin' Cajuns will also return to familiar events at SMU (Trinity Forest Invitational), Little Rock (Everett Buick GMC Classic), and Houston (Border Olympics).

We are very excited to announce our 2025-26 competition schedule, and that will be a key theme for this group, competition, said Sliman. Returning three starters and adding a highly competitive group of six new players, expectations are to compete at a high level.

Louisiana will play five tournaments in the fall, beginning with the Argent Financial Classic. The Cajuns then head to Westchester, Ill., for the Highlands Invitational (Sept. 15-16), followed by the Bayou City Collegiate Classic in Houston (Sept. 29-30). The fall slate wraps up with trips to Dallas for the Trinity Forest Invitational (Oct. 5-7) and to Little Rock's Chenal Country Club for the Everett Buick GMC Classic (Oct. 13-14).

The spring season opens Feb. 16-17, 2026, with Louisiana defending its team title at the Border Olympics in Laredo, Texas. A week later, the Cajuns travel to Henderson, Nevada, for the Lake Las Vegas Invitational at Reflection Bay Golf Club.

Louisiana returns home March 9-10 for the 41st Louisiana Classics at Oakbourne Country Club, welcoming a 15-team field that includes national powers Texas A&M, Little Rock, and Michigan.

The Ragin' Cajuns will then travel to Myrtle Beach, S.C., for the Mike A. Marino Classic at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club (March 15-17), before closing the regular season at the Maridoe Invitational hosted by North Texas in Carrollton, Texas (March 30-31).

Golf is both fall and spring, Sliman added, we will need to stay in the present, not getting ahead of ourselves, and have the drive and discipline to get better every day.

Louisiana returns to Madison, Miss., on April 27-30 for the Sun Belt Conference Championships at Annandale Golf Club, with the NCAA Regionals scheduled for May 18-20 and the NCAA Championships set for May 28-June 3 in Carlsbad, Calif.
