Louisiana's Higgs Earns First-Team All-LSWA College Baseball Honors

EUNICE – Louisiana senior outfielder Conor Higgs was named to the 2025 All-Louisiana College Baseball First Team, the Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA) announced Monday.

Higgs, a native of Texas City, Texas, earned the honor after claiming the team's Triple Crown, leading the Ragin' Cajuns in batting average (.355), home runs (16) and RBIs (46). He was also a first-team All-Sun Belt Conference selection and earned second-team honors from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-Region.

Among all Sun Belt players in overall games, Higgs ranked fifth in batting average and second in both slugging percentage (.680) and OPS (1.152). In conference play, he posted a .695 slugging percentage and a 1.165 OPS, both second-best in the league.

Higgs led Louisiana with 21 multi-hit games and a team-high 13 games with two or more RBIs. He reached base safely in 23 consecutive games, drove in a season-high five runs against South Alabama, and had four-RBI performances against both Troy and Georgia Southern.

During a standout nine-game stretch, Higgs went 13-for-29 (.448) at the plate with five home runs and 14 RBIs, raising his average from .295 to .344. He capped his Louisiana career with a personal milestone, recording his first five-hit game in a 5-for-6 performance.

2026 Ragin' Cajuns newcomer Jayce LaCava was an honorable mention selection and the first player from Nunez Community College to earn LSWA Baseball honors.

National champions LSU (NCAA) and LSU Shreveport (NAIA) led this year's All-Louisiana team, voted on by members of the media and the state's college baseball sports information directors. LSU players took home four major awards: Jared Jones (Hitter of the Year), Kade Anderson (Pitcher of the Year), Anthony Eyanson (Newcomer of the Year), and Derek Curiel (Freshman of the Year). Brad Neffendorf of LSU Shreveport was named Coach of the Year.
