The Ragin’ Cajuns look to reach the SBC semifinals in back-to-back seasons
ROME, Georgia – The Louisiana men's tennis team will face Troy in the opening round of the Sun Belt Conference Championships beginning Friday in Rome, Georgia. The Ragin' Cajuns finished fifth in the league after going 4-4 under first-year head coach Thomas Sevel.
The Cajuns and Trojans faced off just last week in Louisiana's home finale. Trailing 3-0, the Cajuns mounted a comeback and tied the score at 3-3. In the end, the Trojans hung on, 4-3, in an instant classic that lasted just under four hours in the end.
The match will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday at the Rome Tennis Center. The winner of the match will move on to face the winner of the regular season league champion Old Dominion and James Madison.
Last season, the Cajuns won their opening match over South Alabama to reach the semifinals for the first time since 2015 before falling to Georgia Southern in the semis.
