Louisiana Beats Coastal Carolina to Keep Pace Atop SBC Standings

Senior Oriol Fillat Gimenez picked up the 50th win of his collegiate career
CONWAY, S.C. – A nearly five-hour-long rain delay wasn't enough to stop the Louisiana men's tennis team from picking up a 4-1 win on Sunday at Coastal Carolina. The win improved the Ragin' Cajuns to 3-1 in conference and keeps them a game behind league-leading Old Dominion.
The teams started the day with singles with doubles only if necessary. Coastal got off to a good start by taking the match on court five. Louisiana responded with Darius Balan winning on court six, 6-4, 6-1.
The other four matches all went to, or were about to enter, a third set. Samuel Kyjaci bounced back from dropping the first set to win 2-6, 6-1, 6-2. Mason Landreth followed with a 6-3, 1-6, 6-1 win on court four to put Louisiana in the driver's seat to clinch. Oriol Fillat Gimenez finished the job on court one with the 50th victory of his Cajun career. The senior won 6-4, 1-6, 6-2 to help the Cajuns keep pace for first place in the Sun Belt Conference.
Louisiana returns home this weekend for the final two matches this season at Cajun Courts. They'll open the weekend on Saturday against rival South Alabama beginning at 10 a.m.
