Ragin' Cajuns open nine-game homestand beginning Friday against JMU

BATON ROUGE – Cade Arrambide and Jared Jones each homered in a nine-run, first-inning and No. 8-ranked LSU added eight runs late to claim a 17-4 win over the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns on Tuesday at Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field.
 
Arrambide led an 11-hit attack going 3-for-4 with three RBI for LSU (23-3) with Steven Milam adding a pair of hits.
 
Louisiana (11-15) scored an unearned run the first inning for a 1-0 lead before LSU's first four batters reached base off starter Andrew Herrmann (2-2).
 
The Ragin' Cajuns scored a run in the second inning on Sam Ardoin's RBI double to drive in Carson Hepworth before cutting the deficit to 9-4 in the fourth as Hepworth scored from third on a wild pitch and Brooks Wright delivered an RBI single to score Connor Cuff.
 
LSU would respond with a run in the fourth, five in the fifth and two in the sixth to put the game away.
 
Ardoin, Owen Galt and Caleb Stelly had two hits each to lead Louisiana, which finished with 10 hits in the game and left nine runners on base.
 
Louisiana will return to action on Friday to open a nine-game homestand beginning with Sun Belt Conference foe James Madison in a three-game series. First pitch for Friday is scheduled for 6 p.m. with Saturday's game set for 2 p.m. and Sunday's finale at 11:30 a.m.
 
All three games will be streamed live on ESPN+ with fans able to listen to the games in the Lafayette area on KPEL-FM (96.5) and worldwide on the Varsity Network app.
