The Cajuns won the doubles point but fell in singles
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Louisiana men's tennis team got off to a good start on Sunday with a strong doubles performance but it wasn't enough as they fell to Charlotte, 6-1.
The Cajuns took the day's first point in doubles with wins on courts two and three. The 49ers won the match on court one but the Cajuns stormed back for the point. Darius Balan and Mason Landreth earned the win on three, 6-2, to even the score. Oriol Fillat Gimenez and William Jade clinched the point with a 6-3 win heading into singles.
Louisiana struggled in singles action. Charlotte took the matches on courts six, five, and three, in that order, quickly. The Ragin' Cajuns battled and sent the match on court one to a third set but the home side was able to prevail in all six singles contests.
Louisiana wraps up non-conference play tomorrow with a trip to Gardner-Webb with first serve scheduled for 10 a.m. CT.
