Ragin’ Cajuns close non-conference play and complete MAC-SBC Challenge against the RedHawks
LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Women's Basketball team steps out of conference play to face Miami University in Round 2 of the MAC-SBC Challenge on Saturday, February 8 at 2:00 p.m. in the Cajundome. Admission is free and open to the public.
Louisiana (10-11, 6-6 SBC) is playing the second game of its current four-game homestand which began on Wednesday with a 92-88 overtime win over Marshall.
UL Women's Basketball is holding its annual Pink Game on Saturday featuring a pregame rose ceremony to honor breast cancer survivors and those undergoing treatment.
The Ragin' Cajuns first-ever meeting with Miami University (13-8, 6-5 SBC) completes the second edition of the MAC-SBC Challenge and puts the finishing touches on non-conference play for the 2024-25 season.
Erica Lafayette's career-best 15.1 scoring average paces as Cajuns squad averaging 63.5 points, the program's highest mark since the 2021-22 season (66.9). Miami is coming off back-to-back lopsided victories, both by 20-plus points, and is led by Enjulina Gonzalez's 17.3 points per game.

The Ragin' Cajuns return to Sun Belt play when they enter the second half of February's four-game homestand with contests against Texas State and ULM at the Cajundome on February 12 and February 15, respectively.

Louisiana will be beginning a stretch of four games solely against Texas State and ULM. After meeting at the Cajundome, play shifts to San Marcos, Texas and Monroe, Louisiana the following week from February 19-22.
The TXST-ULM stretch begins on Wednesday, February 12 at 5:00 p.m. in the Cajundome when the Cajuns meet the Bobcats in the Black History Month game. That will be followed by the Senior Day matchup vs. ULM on Saturday, February 15 at 5:00 p.m.

BOUNCE PASSES
- Louisiana continues its four-game homestand with Round 2 of the MAC-SBC Challenge vs. Miami University.
- The Cajuns began the homestand outlasting Marshall 92-88 in a hard-fought overtime victory.
- UL set a season-high in points (92) vs. Marshall and eclipsed 60 points for the 10th time in the last 12 outings.
- Louisiana has lost only four times when scoring 60-plus, sporting a 10-4 record when hitting the mark.
- Saturday's game completes the second edition of the MAC-SBC Challenge. Louisiana looks for a split in this season's version, dropping a 57-55 last-minute heartbreaker at NIU back in November.
- The Cajuns also seek their first home win in the MAC-SBC Challenge. UL dropped a 64-55 decision to Kent State in the inaugural matchup of the event in November 2023 at the Cajundome.
- The much-needed win on Wednesday brought UL back to the top half of the SBC standings and into a sixth-place tie with Old Dominion ahead of the final six-game stretch which begins next Wednesday (February 12).
- Skylah Travis recorded her first career double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds vs. Marshall. She had six offensive rebounds and three second-chance conversions in a big Q4 that helped UL set up overtime.
- Erica Lafayette knocked down a game-high 11 field goals in registering her new career-high of 26 points in the February homestand opener. It was her second straight and sixth 20-point effort of the season.
- The 26-point showing vs. Marshall allowed Erica Lafayette to regain her spot as leading scorer in Sun Belt play at 18.2 ppg. After averaging 25.0 ppg the past two games, she has surpassed JMU's Peyton McDaniel (17.0).
- Nubia Benedith is shooting her best as a Cajun (41.7%) and is approaching 500 points in the uniform (25 away).
- Lanay Wheaton turned in her best week in SBC on the Carolinas trip, averaging 11.0 points and 4.0 rebounds.
- Erica Lafayette scored at least 17 points each of the first five SBC games, pacing her 18.2 ppg in conference play.
- UL's Sun Belt losses have come to teams that have a combined 48-12 conference mark (JMU, ASU, Troy, APP, CCU).
- The 4-1 start to SBC play was the best for Louisiana since the 2020-21 regular season championship campaign.
- The Ragin' Cajuns rank Top 25 nationally in turnovers forced (21.4), turning the opposition over 20-plus times in 15 of 21 games, including forcing No. 4 LSU into a season-high tying 21 turnovers and Auburn into 25 miscues.
- UL has scored 25-plus off turnovers three times in SBC play and is averaging 20.3 ppg off turnovers in SBC play.
- UL held its first five foes to 60 or below and has yielded 70-plus only four times (#4 LSU, Troy, Coastal, Marshall).
- UL led the SBC in scoring defense – and ranked Top 60 nationally – holding foes below 60 ppg the last two seasons.
