First look at the 2026-27 Ragin’ Cajuns squad gets underway at the Cajundome at 6:00 p.m.
LAFAYETTE – On Thursday, October 22 fans can get their first of two preseason previews of the 2026-27 Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Women's Basketball team before the season officially begins in November, as the squad welcomes LSU Alexandria for an exhibition contest at 6:00 p.m. in the Cajundome.
Admission for Thursday's exhibition game – and all UL Women's Basketball games throughout the entire season – is free and open to the public.
No television or radio coverage is available. Live stats will be available at CajunStats.StatBroadcast.com.
The matchup with LSUA marks the first of two exhibitions for Garry Brodhead's squad ahead of the start of his 15th season leading the program. The Ragin' Cajuns are also scheduled to host an exhibition game on Thursday, October 29 vs. Mississippi Christian.
The current Ragin' Cajuns roster is a near-even balance with six returning players from last season's roster and nine newcomers.
The core group returning is highlighted by Preseason All-Sun Belt selection Imani Daniel, the team's leading returning rebounder (170 boards) and the SBC's top scoring freshman by average (12.7 ppg) in conference play last season.
Other familiar faces joining Daniel include: leading returning scorer and offensive threat Mikaylah Manley (419 points in 2025-26), fellow 300-plus point freshman scorer Amijah Price, three-point shooters Kahlen Norris and Jazmyne Jackson and a fully recovered Arionna Patterson whose collegiate debut season was cut short last November.
The talented newcomers group is headlined by Senegal native Ndioba Lo who's one of three 6-foot-plus additions to Broadhead's roster. Highly regarded JUCO guards Malaya Jones (Trinity Valley CC) and Kennedi Johnson (Tyler JC) provide additional experience in the backcourt while another talent Louisiana high school product in Bailey Timmons of John Curtis has stood out amongst the seven incoming freshmen.
"We really believe in what we have now," Brodhead said. "I thought we had a pretty good summer, and now we're building on it. We have a lot of work left to do, though. We've got some newcomers and we've got a lot of young kids who are working, but we're excited about.
"Right now, we're spending a lot of time on defense," Brodhead added. "We want to make sure that everybody can defend."
The arrival of the exhibition games signals the final stretch of preparation for Louisiana before regular season action begins. The 2026-27 season opener is set for Tuesday, November 3 at the Cajundome against Xavier (La.).
