Louisiana Hosts Texas Southern In Afternoon Midweek Opener

Game moved up to 3 p.m. to avoid inclement weather
LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Baseball team opens a four-game week on Tuesday when it hosts Texas Southern in the midweek opener at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park.
First pitch for the game is scheduled for 3 p.m. The game between Louisiana (1-2) and Texas Southern (1-2) was originally scheduled for 6 p.m. before being moved to avoid projected inclement weather late Tuesday in the Lafayette area.
The game will be streamed live on ESPN+ with fans able to listen to the game in the Lafayette area on KPEL-FM (96.5) and worldwide on the Varsity Network app.
Fans can take advantage of the season-long Two For One Tuesday promotion where you can purchase two bleacher section tickets (Sections 101-104, 112-114) for the price of one. To purchase tickets on-line, click here.
Louisiana's Brooks Wright went 4-for-4 at the plate over the final two games against San Jose State to lead the team in both hits and RBI. Wright was one of five true freshmen in the starting lineup in Sunday's finale against the Spartans where he was joined by Trip Dobson, Owen Galt, Kasen Bellard and Griffin Hebert.
Sam Ardoin went 2-for-4 with a pair of walks in his Louisiana debut with Luke Yuhasz (.300-0-0) collecting pair of extra-base hits in the series.
True freshman Parker Smith make his collegiate debut on the mound for Louisiana with Texas Southern's Justin Mayes also slated for his collegiate debut.
Texas Southern, playing the first of 21 consecutive true road games this season, opened its season at the 2025 Cactus Jack HBCU Classic at Houston's Daikin Park dropping games to both Southern and Jackson State sandwiched around a 3-2 win over Prairie View.
Jesse Herrera III was 2-for-4 with five walks for TSU with Jaden Jones (.455-0-0) and Daylon Carleton (.300-1-1) hitting above .300 for the weekend.
The meeting between Louisiana and Texas Southern is the 16th all-time in school history and the first between the schools since the Ragin' Cajuns earned a three-game sweep in 2014. Louisiana is 15-0 all-time against Texas Southern in a series which dates back to 1989.
