Louisiana starts season’s longest stretch at the Cajundome with matchup vs. Dillard

LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Women's Basketball team returns to action following its holiday break with a non-conference game against Dillard on Monday, December 29 at 6:00 p.m. inside the Cajundome.
 
The Ragin' Cajuns (0-11) are closing an eight-day break from play when they step onto the court against the Bleu Devils (5-7). UL was last in action on December 20 at Southern Miss.
 
Louisiana is starting a five-game homestand that includes a return to SBC play on New Year's Day vs. Troy for the first of four straight conference games at the Cajundome through January 10.
 
Admission to the UL-Dillard matchup – and for all UL Women's Basketball games throughout the entire season – is free and open to the public.

UL and Dillard meet in late-December at the Cajundome for the second straight season. The Ragin' Cajuns claimed a 63-43 exhibition win on December 27, 2024, in the matchup held last season.
 
Monday's contest is Louisiana's last non-conference outing until the February 7 MAC-SBC Challenge game. The Bleu Devils are counting the contest as an exhibition.
 
With double-digit scoring outputs in six of the last seven games, freshman Imani Daniel has risen to the top of the leaderboard as Louisiana's leading scorer at 11.9 points per game. Daniel was the top scorer in both games of the SBC opening week road trip prior to Christmas which included a season-high 20 points at Texas State.
 
Dillard last took the floor on December 11 in an exhibition game at Norfolk State, falling 100-54. In that game, D'Mya Ferguson (11.5) produced 26 points. Azaria Knox (14.5) and Kayla Terry (11.8) are the other Bleu Devils who averaged double digits prior to the current exhibition stint.

  • Garry Brodhead also has a change of the guard within his coaching staff. All-American collegiate standout and WNBA legend Temeka Johnson has taken over the associate head coach duties while Kacie Cryer, chief of staff for the past three seasons, was elevated to assistant coach and recruiting coordinator.
  • Freshman Imani Daniel led the way averaging 20.5 point per game in exhibition action highlighted by a 19-point, 15-rebound double-double vs. LSU-A.
  • Garry Brodhead is the program's all-time winningest head coach and the only head coach to reach both 100 and 200 victories. His career record entering Monday's game stands at 215-192.
