Ragin’ Cajuns bolster future prospects for both the frontcourt and backcourt

LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Women's Basketball signed four recruits from the Class of 2026 during the recent early signing period. Each student-athlete will join the program in the 2026-27 season.

Joining the Ragin' Cajuns are guard Bailey Timmons (Slidell, La./John Curtis Christian), guard Kelis Dansby (Jeffersonville, Ind./Jeffersonville HS), center Kayllis Walker (Laurel, Miss./Laurel HS) and center Aminata Sowe (Dakar, Senegal/Hamilton Heights Christian Academy).

"We are extremely pleased with our recruiting class for 2026 and excited for the chance to develop these student-athletes into special young adults," Louisiana Women's Basketball Head Coach Garry Brodhead said." This recruiting class brings in much needed help at the point guard position as well as solid post players who can really have a big impact on the future of our program."

Timmons was voted as the New Orleans area girls basketball player of the year for the 2024-25 season in her junior year at John Curtis Christian. The 5-foot-8 Timmons averaged 13.3 points, 7.6 rebounds, 4.3 steals and 4.1 assists per game as a junior while being tasked with guarding her opponent's top post player.

Dansby averaged a team-high 14.3 points, 6.1 rebounds, a team-best 2.2 assists and a team-high 1.6 steals per game in 2024-25 for Jeffersonville (Ind.) High School. The 5-foot-7 point guard also shot 47 percent from the field, including 38 percent from three-point range.

Walker was a 2024-25 Mississippi North/South All-Star selection and became the first in Laurel's school history to be chosen for the Dandy Dozen. The two-time reigning team and district MVP, Walker was voted MVP of the 2024 Class 5A state championship game following a dominant 17 points, 12 rebounds double-double performance.

Entering her senior season, the 6-foor-2 Walker had produced 1,100-plus points – coming off back-to-back 500-plus point seasons – on 450-plus made field goals, collected 700 rebounds and recorded 148 blocked shots.

Sowe is another six-foot plus addition to the Ragin' Cajuns frontcourt future, the Dakar, Senegal native standing at 6-foot-3 tall. Known for her impressive footwork, soft touch around the rim, strong post defense and shot blocking, Sowe was one of the top performers at the Southeast Top 100 Camp in September.

Competing for Hamilton Heights Christian Academy in the Chattanooga, Tennessee area, Sowe scored 16 points, grabbed seven rebounds and recorded a pair of blocks in the team's season opener on Thursday (November 20, 2025).
