First meeting between the schools since 1984 NIT quarterfinals
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball team continues its swing through California on Friday when it visits Santa Clara at the Leavey Center.
Tipoff is scheduled for 9 p.m. CT. The game will be available on ESPN+ with fans able to listen to the game on 103.3 The Goat and 1420 AM.
Louisiana (1-4), in the midst of a three-game trip to the West Coast, faces an unbeaten Santa Clara (5-0) squad for the first time since the Ragin' Cajuns claimed a 97-76 win in the 1984 NIT quarterfinal at Blackham Coliseum. The win would send Louisiana to the NIT Final Four at New York's Madison Square Garden.
The Ragin' Cajuns opened their California trip at Stanford on Tuesday, falling to the Cardinal, 93-66.
Freshman Joshua Lewis delivered a season-high 16 points for Louisiana, while Jaxon Olvera - a Pepperdine transfer familiar with West Coast Conference competition – added 12.
