Longhorns take advantage of Ragin’ Cajuns’ early foul troubles and turnovers

AUSTIN, Texas – Freshman Imani Daniel produced a team-leading 17 points for the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Women's Basketball team but foul trouble limited her minutes until the fourth quarter and No. 4-ranked Texas used it to their advantage in racing on to a 100-38 victory on Monday, November 10 at the Moody Center.

Daniel, who wound up with 10 points in only five minutes of action in the first half, scored six quick points just over two minutes into the contest allowing Louisiana (0-3) to keep pace, the latter score trimming Texas' lead down to 8-6 at the 7:37 mark.

On the ensuing possession she picked up her second foul and would miss the remainder of the opening quarter. The Longhorns (3-0) immediately capitalized rolling off a 20-3 quarter-ending run with Daniel on the bench to forge ahead 28-9.

The Ragin' Cajuns defense held Texas to just two makes the first three minutes of the second quarter and then Daniel returned to the floor and provided a four-point spurt over a 10-second span making it 35-15 with 5:27 left before the halftime break.

The momentum boost was short-lived, though, as Daniel was whistled for a foul 10 seconds later causing her to leave the court. Bryanna Preston completed a three-point play at 5:17 and the Longhorns went on to shutout the Ragin' Cajuns the rest of the quarter as they advanced the lead to 49-15 at the break.

Daniel was unable to play a full 10 minutes until the fourth quarter by which time Texas had extended the lead to 70-24.

UL was boosted by Daniel's presence for a full quarter for the first time on the night, tallying its lone double-digit scoring frame (14 points). Starting with two quick buckets right out of the media timeout, Daniel accounted for three of the team's six field goals in the final stanza.

Monday's contest was Louisiana's first road outing of the 2025-26 season and started a five-game road stretch that keeps the team away from home through Thanksgiving weekend.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Daniel collected the first double-digit output of her young collegiate career. She finished 7-of-10 from the field and was 3-of-4 from the charity stripe.

The Longhorns were able to hold all three Ragin' Cajuns who entered the night averaging double figures to single digits. Amijah Price, who averaged 18.5 points during the opening week, was held to two points coming on a basket with 3:56 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Jazmyne Jackson connected on a pair of three-point field goals and was UL's second-leading scorer with eight points.

Texas' pressure defense led to 18 steals for the bulk of the 32 turnovers that Louisiana committed – the Longhorns garnering 37 points from the Ragin' Cajuns miscues. Louisiana was hamstrung from the start by 22 of the miscues occurring in the first half, outnumbering the 21 field goal attempts the team registered.

Inside scoring proved to be the largest difference in the contest, Texas landing 62 points from the paint.
