Home contest on February 8 completes Cajuns non-conference schedule
LAFAYETTE – The second round of games in the MAC-SBC Challenge was announced on Monday and the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Women's Basketball team was paired with Miami University.
The Sun Belt Conference women's basketball teams are hosting the February matchups. Louisiana will meet Miami University at the Cajundome for the Saturday, February 8 contest.
The first-ever meeting between the Cajuns and RedHawks is scheduled to tip off at 2:00 p.m.
The game is set to air of ESPN+ with radio coverage available on Ragin' Cajuns Radio Network in the Acadiana region and worldwide on the Varsity Sports app.
Matchups for Round 2 were set based on real-time NET rankings following the completion on play on January 11. The February games conclude the second year of a scheduling alliance between the MAC and SBC. The first round games of the 2024-25 season were held back in November with the MAC women's basketball teams hosting then.
Louisiana looks for a split in this season's MAC-SBC Challenge. In November, the Cajuns were dealt a heartbreaking loss in DeKalb, Illinois by Northern Illinois, the Huskies scoring with 31 seconds remaining to claim a 57-55 win after UL had led the entire second half.
The Ragin' Cajuns also seek their first home win in the MAC-SBC Challenge. Louisiana dropped a 64-55 decision to Kent State in the inaugural matchup of the event in November 2023 at the Cajundome.
ABOUT THE MAC-SBC CHALLENGE
The MAC-SBC Challenge, a scheduling alliance for men's and women's basketball, was initially arranged to take place during the 2023-24 and 2024-25 campaigns and has been extended two additional years through the 2026-27 season. Each MAC and Sun Belt team included is guaranteed one home and one away game each season.
Scheduling assistance is provided by Ordinal Sports Group. In addition to relevant NET data, geography and frequency of past contests is considered in determining the matchups. The MAC-SBC Challenge comes at the recommendation of the Sun Belt's strategic planning committees for men's and women's basketball, as the conference looks to return to its roots and bolster its success on the hardwood.
