SET POINTS
  • Louisiana concludes its September-ending homestand and hosts Texas State at E.K. Long Gym during the Opening Weekend of Sun Belt Conference play from Friday-Saturday, September 27-28.
  • The Ragin' Cajuns open SBC play at home for the second straight season.
  • Louisiana enters Sun Belt play coming off a two-match sweep of the Ragin' Cajuns Classic (Jax State, FAMU) that rounded out non-conference play.
  • The Ragin' Cajuns record is deceiving as evidenced by the hard-fought battles in non-conference play – played through 154 ties and 61 lead changes the final seven contests.
  • With her team-high tying two blocks on September 17 at Southeastern, Cami Hicks broke the tie with Kim Rodgers and became the program's rally scoring era career blocks record holder.
  •  Now at 411 career blocks, Cami Hicks is the first Ragin' Cajun to reach 400 career blocks in the rally era.
  •  Cailin Demps found her footing the final week of non-conference play, scoring 45 kills (3.5/set) over 13 sets highlighted by a season-high tying 19 kills in the homestand opener vs. Jacksonville State.
  • In her debut with Louisiana last season, Mio Yamamoto led the Sun Belt in digs (296) in conference play in earning the highest honors for a libero in UL Volleyball history – first team All-SBC and Libero of the Year.
  • There are six newcomers on the Ragin' Cajuns roster headlined by transfers Cailin Demps (Southern Miss) and Chelsea Gilmore (N.C. State) who are expected to make significant contributions.
  • The Cajuns entered the season shorthanded, without the services of all-conference setter Siena DeCambra (season-ending injury) and a 300-200 kills-digs performer Shyia Richardson sidelined with injury.
  •  Mio Yamamoto represented Louisiana on the 2024 Preseason All-Sun Belt Conference Volleyball team. Yamamoto was selected the Preseason SBC Libero of the Year; she claimed the award in 2023.
  • In the Sun Belt Volleyball Preseason Coaches' Poll, the Ragin' Cajuns were picked fourth in the West division.

UP NEXT FOR LOUISIANA
Louisiana travels to Boone, North Carolina for the team's first road matches in Sun Belt Conference play this season, the contests scheduled for Friday-Saturday, October 4-5 at App State.

The Ragin' Cajuns and Mountaineers begin play in the Holmes Convocation Center at 5:00 p.m. (CDT). on Friday (Oct. 4) before closing the two-match series with an 11:00 a.m. (CDT) match on Saturday (Oct. 5).

The matches are being broadcast on ESPN+ with live stats available at CajunStats.com.

It's the third straight season that App State is one of UL's cross-divisional opponents (from SBC East Division) since the Sun Belt adopted the scheduling format in 2022. The home team has won every match during that timeframe.
