Guard RyAnne Walters and forward Skylah Travis boost Cajuns skill set at both positions
LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Women's Basketball team announced that graduate transfers RyAnne Walters (UC Riverside) and Skylah Travis (Missouri) have joined the roster for the 2024-25 season.
Walters is a 5-foot-7 guard from Sacramento, California who comes to Louisiana after spending the previous three seasons at UC Riverside. She averaged 27-plus minutes per game the past two seasons and handed out 159 assists (3.2/game).
"RyAnne (Walters) is a point guard who will be able to add our athleticism and quickness," head coach Garry Brodhead said. "She will be able to help us stretch the floor with her three-point shooting and ability to find the open player."
Travis is a 6-foot-3 forward who was an all-state player for Weldon High School in North Carolina, averaging a double-double (20.7 ppg, 10.6 rpg) her senior season. After a redshirt season with Old Dominion in 2020-21, she was a member of SEC-member Missouri's roster the past three seasons.
"Skylah (Travis) is a dominant player who will bring a physical presence in the post," Brodhead said. "She will also help bring a presence in our team's rebounding."
The addition of Walters and Travis increases the number of newcomers added by head coach Garry Brodhead and his staff for the 2024-25 season to five. They join Senegal native Charlotte Carvalho of Grayson College, Baton Rouge product Erica Lafayette from Rutgers and University of Houston transfer Kamryn Jones in signing with Louisiana.
The Ragin' Cajuns are coming off their fifth consecutive winning season, which marks the longest stretch in program history, highlighted by capturing the 200th win of the Brodhead era and making a run to the semifinals of the 2024 Sun Belt Conference Championship tournament.
