Joins the Ragin’ Cajuns after breakout season of collegiate career

LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Women's Basketball team announced the addition of Charlotte Carvalho, a junior college transfer forward from Grayson College, to join the roster for the 2024-25 season.

The Dakar, Senegal native is an incoming junior with two years of eligibility remaining to play for the Ragin' Cajuns (17-14, 10-8 SBC in 2023-24).

Carvalho averaged 10.4 points per game on 49.8 percent shooting and hauled in 160-plus rebounds at a rate of 6.0 per game last season for Grayson in working her way toward NTJCAC honorable mention honors.

She finished third on the Vikings roster in scoring, rebounds and steals. Carvalho converted five-plus baskets 15 times, collected eight-plus rebounds nine times hitting double digits four times and scored double figures in 18 of 27 appearances.

"Charlotte is a great addition to our program," head coach Garry Brodhead said. "She brings an ability to score and rebound. She also very aggressive on the defensive side of the ball and runs the floor extremely well."

Prior to Grayson, Carvalho launched her collegiate career at Walters State Community College in the 2022-23 season.

Carvalho has represented her country internationally as part of Senegal's under-18 National Team in 2020. While competing for SEED at an under-16 tournament in Morocco in 2019, Carvalho helped power her squad to the tournament title.

In 2020, Carvalho participated in the NBA's Basketball Without Borders camp in Chicago.

The signing of Carvalho marks the first newcomer announced for the 2024-25 season by head coach Garry Brodhead and his staff. The Ragin' Cajuns are coming off their fifth consecutive winning season highlighted by capturing the 200th win of the Brodhead era and making a run to the semifinals of the 2024 Sun Belt Conference Championship tournament.
