Kimola Hines had the third-longest discus throw in school history
TUSCALOOSA, Alabama - Kimola Hines had the third-longest discus throw in program history as the Louisiana track and field team opened the Crimson Tide Invitational in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Hines' first throw of the night cleared 171-1 to beat her previous best throw by nearly seven feet. Freshman Jaydan Jackson also shined in the discus, putting herself tied for the seventh-longest throw in school history at 146-4. For the event, Hines took home third while Jackson was ninth. Ashley McMillin also competed for the Cajuns, finishing 12th at 140-11.
Oliver Jack got the day going in the hammer by taking fourth with a throw of 165-11. In the men's hammer invite, Tyren Hannah placed eighth at 166-3. In the women's hammer invite, Lily Murray's throw of 178-11 put her fifth after her final throw of the night. Marin Barras placed ninth at 165-3.
Louisiana closed out the day in the men's discus. Hannah had the team's furthest throw at 150-3 to take 17th. Jack was right behind him in 18th at 149-4 while Praiyer Jones was 22nd at 135-4.
Day two begins at 11:30 a.m. with the women's javelin while track events start at 12:25 p.m. with the 100M hurdles.
