Louisiana Places Two on NCBWA Midseason Stopper of the Year Watch List

LAFAYETTE – Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns relievers LP Langevin and Matthew Holzhammer were each named to the 19th Annual National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper of the Year Award Watch List, the NCBWA announced Wednesday.

The duo was among a group of 59 pitchers nationally named to the Watch List, which recognized the top relief pitchers in NCAA Division I.

Langevin, a junior right-hander, has recorded a team-high five saves on the season for No. 17-ranked Louisiana (31-11) while leading the team in ERA (2.53) and strikeouts (74). The native of Quebec has posted a 4-0 record on the mound in 15 appearances this season for the Ragin' Cajuns.

Holzhammer has posted a 3-1 record on the mound in his first season at Louisiana with a 2.95 ERA in 21.1 innings on the mound. The Wister, Okla., native has posted four saves on the season in a team-high 17 appearances out of the bullpen and ranks fifth in the Sun Belt Conference in saves.
