Weather Delays Completion of UL-USA Softball Series Opener

Game suspended in Top 7; will resume Saturday at 1:00 p.m., followed by series-concluding doubleheader
MOBILE, Ala. – The series opener of the Sun Belt Softball Opening Weekend series between Louisiana and South Alabama at Jaguar Field in Mobile, Alabama that was suspended by inclement weather in the seventh inning is set to resume on Saturday, March 16 at 1:00 p.m.

Play in game one of the series will resume in Top 7 with Louisiana leading 3-0. Approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the contest the two teams will play a doubleheader to conclude the series.

Louisiana (15-12) broke a scoreless tie in the fourth inning with Sam Roe's two-run home run and tacked on an additional run when Brooke Ellestad's single drove in Alexa Langeliers after she hit a triple.

Sam Landry held South Alabama (14-8-1) to one hit over six innings before the weather delay. Landry induced 11 ground ball outs and the Cajuns defense turned two double plays along the way.

The series in Mobile marks the start of the 24th season of softball within the Sun Belt Conference. Louisiana, the four-time defending regular season champion, begins its SBC title defense and quest for the program's 20th regular season title.
