Brandi Williams led the Cajuns with a game-high 18 points
HUNTINGTON, W. Va. – Louisiana women's basketball's Brandi Williams scored a game-high 18 points, but the Ragin' Cajuns ultimately fell at Marshall, 74-42, Wednesday morning at the Cam Henderson Center.

Williams buried four 3-pointers on five attempts and was 6-for-11 from the field. The Lake Charles, Louisiana, native added six rebounds, second behind Tamera Johnson's seven. Jaylyn James and Tamiah Robinson each added seven points for Louisiana (9-12, 5-7 SBC).

Marshall (17-6, 11-1 SBC) opened the game on a 17-2 run before Williams hit a 3-pointer and
James hit a trio of free throws to cut the lead to 18-8 to close out the first frame.

In the second quarter, the Ragin' Cajuns dug in to the Herd's lead, going on an 11-2 run over 6:10 of action to trim the advantage to 28-19. Robinson began the run with a 3-pointer 48 seconds into the quarter before James converted off a Marshall turnover with a jumper. After a Johnson layup, Williams hit a jumper before Lanay Wheaton converted off a turnover.

Marshall responded with a run of its own, closing out the half on a 10-3 run capped off by a 3-pointer at the buzzer, taking a 41-22 lead into the locker room.

In the second half, Williams paced Louisiana with 10 points, but the Cajuns were unable to find their shooting touch in the final 20 minutes, shooting 25-percent from the floor allowing Marshall to pull away. Â

Louisiana returns to action Saturday against Central Michigan at noon before returning home to the Cajundome to face Georgia Southern on Feb. 15 and Arkansas State on Feb. 17.
