NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana - After 11 days off, the Louisiana women's tennis team is back in action against New Orleans on Tuesday. First serve from the Privateer Tennis Center is scheduled for 2 p.m.
Carla Urchoeguia was named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week after going 2-0 in singles and earning a doubles victory last time out for the Cajuns. The Cajuns split that week, defeating Stephen F. Austin, 5-2, and falling to Mississippi State, 5-2, before an 11-day break.
Cristina Tchanichev has also had a strong start to her season, winning all four matches on court two in singles. Louisiana has been solid on court four in singles as well with Kamea Medora and Jenaila Prulla combining for a 3-1 record.
UNO has only played three matches this spring due to weather. The team won their first match on Saturday in a 6-0 win over Mississippi Valley State. The Privateers have had solid doubles play this season, going 3-0 on court one and 2-1 this season on court two. This season they've also gone undefeated on court one singles, winning both of their completed matches.
