Ragin’ Cajuns Takes Four-Game Win Streak to Texas State

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Louisiana women's basketball team game looks to complete the series sweep against Texas State as the Ragin' Cajuns vie for their fifth-straight victory Saturday at Strahan Arena.
Tipoff for the game between the Ragin' Cajuns (13-12, 8-7 SBC) and the Bobcats (13-15, 3-12 SBC) is scheduled for 2 p.m. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+ with radio coverage in the Lafayette area on The GOAT 103.3 FM and 1420 AM and The Varsity Network worldwide.
Winners of four in-a-row, Louisiana is coming off its best game of the season as it defeated South Alabama, 74-42, Wednesday night. The Cajuns poured in 32 points in the first quarter, the most against a Sun Belt opponent since 2016 while the 32-point margin of victory was the most this season.
Over the win streak, Jaylyn James is averaging 12.8 points as Tamiah Robinson is second on the team with 11.0 points and is second in rebounds with 6.0. Tamera Johnson is nearly averaging a double-double with 9.8 points and 8.5 rebounds. As a team, the Ragin' Cajuns are shooting 41.8-percent while holding their opponents to 30.9-percent.
For the season, Brandi Williams paces the Ragin' Cajuns with 10.8 points per game as Johnson adds 10.5 points and a team-high 6.5 rebounds. Since Jan. 1, James has provided a spark as she averages a team-high 12.8 points, including a 25-point performance against Arkansas State.
Texas State is led by Ja'Niah Henson, who tops the team with 15.0 points while Timia Jefferson adds 11.8 points and 5.0 rebounds.
In the first game against the two teams this season, the Cajuns edged out Texas State, 58-51, in Lafayette. James led the way as she had a game-high 18 points and seven rebounds. Louisiana was able to capitalize on its free throw opportunities, making 12 of its 13 attempts in the fourth quarter to pull away.
