Ragin’ Cajuns Sweep Southern for First Win of the Spring

LAFAYETTE, Louisiana - The Ragin' Cajuns women's tennis team picked up their first win of the year in a 7-0 sweep of Southern on Thursday at Cajun Courts.
Louisiana got off to a fast start in doubles with a 6-0 win by Carla Urchoeguia and Karolina Skowronska on court three. Not long after, Nina Krecklenberg and Jenaila Prulla earned a 6-2 win on court two to clinch the doubles point.
Krecklenberg got the Cajuns a second point with a straight-set win on court six, 6-2, 6-1. Moments later Skowronska earned a 6-4, 6-2 win on court five, putting the Cajuns one point away from taking the match.
After winning the first set 7-5, Prulla saw little resistance in set two, winning 6-0, to take her match. Over on court one, Urchoeguia was victorious 6-2, 6-3; on court two, Cristina Tchanichev won 6-4, 6-4. Kamea Medora was the only Cajun taken to a third set but had little issue winning the decisive set.
The Cajuns remain in Lafayette tomorrow to host Rice at 4 p.m. with the match at Red Lerille's Health and Racquet Club.
