11/3/2024 4:31:00 PM | Men's Basketball
The Ragin’ Cajuns have won three straight season openers
LAFAYETTE – It's a new season for the Louisiana men's basketball team who welcome Kent State to the Cajundome on Monday at 7 p.m. as part of the MAC-SBC Challenge. Last season the Sun Belt Conference won the challenge, going 15-9 overall including a 10-2 record at home.
Seven new faces join the Ragin' Cajuns this season. Zeke Cook, Kyndall Davis, and Christian Wright come to the Cajuns with Division I experience for their senior seasons. Koron Davis and Mostapha El Moutaouakkil proved they could stuff the stat sheet, both averaged over 20 points per game in their last season of junior college ball, while in-state products, Jeremiah Evans and Michael Mouton begin their college careers at Louisiana.
Kent State returns eight players and three starters from last season's roster. The Flash have finished .500 or better for 27 straight seasons after reaching the MAC Championship Game a year ago. Last season they went 0-2 in the MAC-SBC Challenge, falling at home in a double overtime thriller to James Madison before a 10-point road loss to Troy later in the season.
