Cajuns Honor Seniors, Close Season at E.K. Long

LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Volleyball team makes one more appearance in the Hub City this fall as the Ragin' Cajuns host Georgia Southern in a cross-division SBC series at E.K. Long Gym beginning Thursday evening.

This marks the final home weekend and concludes the 2024 season for the Ragin' Cajuns. Play begins Thursday (Nov. 14) at 6:00 p.m. and then again Friday (Nov. 15) at 6:00 p.m. Both matches will air live on ESPN+.

Louisiana will honor its senior class prior to the start of Friday's contest.

Graduate middle blocker Cami Hicks enters the two-match series closing in on the program's single-season rally scoring era record of 129 blocks (Clarice Laires, 2001). With 122 blocks, Hicks is eight blocks shy of breaking the record.

Admission to all UL Volleyball home matches is free and open to the public. Parking is in the gravel lot located behind E.K. Long Gym and the first floor of Olivier Parking tower.

Thursday's match is Louisiana Salutes with Ragin' Cajuns-branded bandanas available for fans to collect, while supplies last. On Friday, fans donating to the Gifting Grace hygiene product drive for homeless children in Acadiana will be entered into a drawing to win a signed volleyball.

Louisiana celebrates Senior Weekend and concludes the 2024 season with a cross-division SBC series against Georgia Southern at E.K. Long Gym. It's the first matchup with the Eagles since the 2021 season.
The Ragin' Cajuns will honor their seniors prior to the start of Friday night's match. The group includes: Siena DeCambra, Cami Hicks, Shyia Richardson, Danielle Taix and Mio Yamamoto.
As her decorated career comes to a close, graduate middle blocker Cami Hicks is eight blocks shy of breaking the program's rally era single season mark (129, Clarice Laires in 2001).
Louisiana enters the season finale coming off its first SBC series sweep of the season, topping ULM both nights in Monroe last weekend.
Cailin Demps ignited the offense at ULM, starting with a career-high 22 kills and finishing with 38 for the series.
Louisiana's defense has been a strong suit and has carried over into conference play, the squad ranking in or near the Top 5 in blocks and digs in conference matches.
Louisiana has played through 484 ties and 185 lead changes this season, lending to a deceiving record.
Libero Mio Yamamoto has clinched her second straight 400-plus digs campaign. Her 449 digs are third-most in the SBC and has her closing in on last season's 481 digs collected.
Currently at 474 career blocks, Cami Hicks is the program's rally scoring era leader in career blocks and is the only Ragin' Cajun to reach 400 career blocks in the rally era.
Cami Hicks, the SBC leader in blocks per set in non-conference play, has maintained her lead (1.4/set).
Cailin Demps found her footing the final week of non-conference play, scoring 45 kills (3.5/set). Her 272 kills mark a new personal single-season best, topping the 192 posted as a freshman at Southern Miss in 2022.
Libero Mio Yamamoto has posted 20-plus digs 12 times this season and 22 times total as a Ragin' Cajun.
The Cajuns entered the season shorthanded, without the services of all-conference setter Siena DeCambra (season-ending injury) and a 300-200 kills-digs performer Shyia Richardson sidelined with injury.
Mio Yamamoto represented Louisiana on the 2024 Preseason All-Sun Belt Conference Volleyball team. Yamamoto was selected the Preseason SBC Libero of the Year; she claimed the award in 2023.
