Ragin' Cajuns to play 34 games at home; 21 against 2024 NCAA participants
LAFAYETTE – With a 34-game home schedule set for M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park, highlighted by non-conference series against San Jose State, Nebraska and Dallas Baptist, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns released its 2025 Baseball schedule on Wednesday.
Louisiana, the defending Sun Belt Conference regular-season champion, will play 21 games against teams which qualified for the 2024 NCAA Regionals with 13 scheduled in Lafayette.
The Ragin' Cajuns will host 2024 NCAA Regional participants Nebraska (Feb. 21-23), UNC Wilmington (March 5), Dallas Baptist (March 7-9), James Madison (March 28-30), Louisiana Tech (April 2), Grambling (April 22) and Nicholls (April 23) during the season.
Louisiana, under sixth-year head coach Matt Deggs, will officially open the season at home on Feb. 14-16 against San Jose State – a 2023 NCAA Regional participant – before facing Nebraska (40-22) in a three-game series the following weekend.
A Mardi Gras weekend trip to the West Coast (Feb. 28-March 2) will see Louisiana face UC Irvine (45-14) for a three-game series in Irvine, Calif., before returning home for an Ash Wednesday date against 2024 NCAA regional participant UNC Wilmington (40-21) and three-game weekend set against DBU.
Louisiana will open its 30-game Sun Belt Conference schedule at home on March 14-16 against Troy with home series set against JMU, Texas State (April 4-6), Georgia Southern (April 25-27) and Arkansas State (May 15-17).
Road SBC dates include South Alabama (March 21-23), ULM (April 11-13), Old Dominion (April 17-19), Georgia State (May 2-4) and Southern Miss (May 9-11).
Louisiana's non-conference schedule begins February 18 against Texas Southern and will include home dates against Southeastern Louisiana (Feb. 26), Southern (March 11), McNeese (March 12), Northwestern State (April 1), UT-Rio Grande Valley (April 8). The Ragin' Cajuns will travel for midweek games at McNeese (Feb. 25), SLU (March 19), LSU (March 25) and Louisiana Tech (April 9).
The Sun Belt Conference Baseball Championships will return to Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery, Ala., from May 20-25 with the NCAA Regionals scheduled to start on May 30.
Louisiana returns 16 letterwinners from the 2024 squad, including freshman All-American Chase Morgan, All-Sun Belt Conference pitcher Andrew Herrmann and seniors Conor Higgs, Matthew Holzhammer, Jose Torres and Dylan Theut.
