Louisiana Travels to College Station for Final Pre-Conference Tune-Up

Last time out the men won the Cowboy Stampede while the women finished second

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas - After a dominating performance at the Cowboy Stampede, the Louisiana cross country team takes on the Arturo Barrios Invitational on Friday.

Peyton Chiasson won the race with a personal best of 19:20.9 in the four-mile while on the women's side, Isabelle Russell took second in the 5k with a personal best of 17:05.1, earning both of them the Sun Belt Conference Runner of the Week. The men finished first as a team, placing runners second, fifth, seventh, and ninth. The women placed second with three top-10 showings.

One of the largest cross country events in the country, the 2024 Arturo Barrios Invite is scheduled to feature 40 teams with over 800 entries including, Abilene Christian, Arizona State, Arkansas State, Baylor, Boise State, Central Arkansas, Charleston Southern, Colorado (women), Delaware (women), Eastern Michigan, Georgia Tech, Gonzaga, Houston, Houston Christian, Incarnate Word, Lamar, McNeese State, Mercer, Middle Tennessee State, New Mexico State, New Orleans, Nicholls State, North Dakota, North Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma City, Rice, Sam Houston, SMU (women), Stephen F. Austin, Texas A&M, Texas A&M-Texarkana, Tarleton State, TCU, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas State, Texas Tech, UT-Arlington, UTSA, and Youngstown State. Action begins with the men's 8k at 8:30 a.m. followed by the women's 6k at 9:15 a.m.

Up next for the Ragin' Cajuns will be the Sun Belt Conference Championships on November 1.
