Joe Charles and Kobe Julien each had a team-high 19 points

LAFAYETTE, Louisiana – The streak is now at six wins in a row for the Louisiana Ragin' Cajun men's basketball team after holding off ULM 80-72 on Wednesday in the Cajundome. The Cajuns never trailed in what was their sixth straight win in the series with the Warhawks.

Joe Charles recorded his eighth double-double of the year with 19 points, with a career-high five made threes, along with 11 rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Kobe Julien matched his scoring effort with 19 points. Michael Thomas poured in a career-high 15 points, on 5-of-7 shooting, and dished out three assists.

Hosana Kitenge was a perfect 8-for-8 from the charity stripe, finishing the night with 14 points to go along with six boards. Themus Fulks added nine points, five rebounds, and four assists to the victory.

Fulks started the scoring for the Cajuns (14-8, 7-3 SBC) with a pair of free throws before the Warhawks (7-13, 3-7 SBC) answered with a bucket to tie the score. After the Cajuns retook the lead, Charles connected on back-to-back threes to take a 12-7 lead. Another three from Charles pushed the lead to eight moments later but the Warhawks refused to go away.

Thomas got hot, hitting a three and a jumper to cap a 9-0 run to go ahead by 13. The visitors answered with back-to-back buckets before another Thomas three put the Cajuns up 29-17. Louisiana pushed the lead to as many as 17 in the opening half before heading into the locker rooms ahead 46-34.

Early in the half, the Warhawks got back within single digits at 51-42. Julien responded with a stretch of three three-pointers in four possessions and suddenly Louisiana was ahead 62-43. The Warhawks went to work to chip away at the lead, eventually getting back within single digits, but it was much too late as the Cajuns coasted to the win.

Louisiana remains in the Cajundome this Saturday as they host South Alabama at 7 p.m. looking to sweep the season series.
