Louisiana will play either No. 18 Texas A&M or Auburn on Monday
ATHENS, Georgia - The Louisiana men's tennis team is in Athens, Georgia for the first round of the ITA Indoor National Championships. The Ragin' Cajuns face No. 19 Georgia to open the event before facing either No. 18 Texas A&M or Auburn on Monday.
The Cajuns return to the event for the second straight season. Louisiana earned a split last season, falling to host Tennessee before bouncing back to sweep Charlotte.
It's been a tough start for the Cajuns who have been on the road for their first three contests. In a mid-week match against LSU, the Cajuns fell 7-0. On the young season, only Vasil Dimitrov and William Ribero have appeared in every match for Louisiana. Dimitrov earned a win in the second match against Florida Gulf Coast and sits at 1-2 on the year.
The Bulldogs are the defending SEC regular season champions, going 23-7 before falling in the NCAA National Quarterfinals. The team only returned three players from that team but are 2-0 to start the spring.
Selections for the ITA Indoor Nationals were picked back in June during the ITA Kick-Off Draft. The winner between the Cajuns and Bulldogs will advance to face the winner of the Texas A&M and Auburn match, with the losers also facing off on Monday.
