Cajuns Move Up A Spot at GMAC Invitational

Ortego's 2-under helps him remain in contention for individual title
ONEONTA, Ala. – Eli Ortego fired a 2-under-par 70 on the day and the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Golf team moved up one spot to sixth overall after the second day of the the 2023 Graeme McDowell Invitational on Monday at Limestone Springs Golf Club.
Louisiana posted a team score of 3-under-285 on the par-72, 6,987-yard course to finish three strokes behind fifth-place North Alabama heading to the final round. Host UAB blistered the course with a team score of 20-under-268 to finish eight shots in front of first-day leader Lamar.
Ortego, who opened the three-day event with a 4-under 68 on Monday, moved to within three strokes of co-leaders Andrew Forworn of North Alabama and UAB's Seb Cave after finishing tied for third at 6-under-138 after two rounds.
Dylan Keating carded a below-par round for the Ragin' Cajuns after his 1-under-71 helped him move to 1-over 145 after 36 holes and a tie for 24th place. Burke Alford carded a 1-over-par 73 to finish 3-over 147 after the first two days with Malan Potgieter posting a 1-under 71 and moving to 5-over-149.
Jake Marler added a 2-over 74 for the Ragin' Cajuns and finished tied with Potgieter at 149 while freshman Dillon Barnard posted a 5-over-77 to finish at 151 after 36 holes.
The final round of the 13-team event will take place on Tuesday with tee times beginning at 8 a.m.
