Ragin’ Cajun Track & Field Announces Early Signing Class

The group includes 10 student-athletes, five men and five women

LAFAYETTE - After a spring outdoor season that saw numerous records fall and the record books re-written, the Louisiana track and field team announced their early signees. The team announced the addition of 10 signees, five women and five men.
 
Joining the Ragin' Cajuns are Jaden Jackson, Isabelle Russell, Ella Segura, Peyton Sievers, Kenzie Touchet, on the women's side. On the men's side, they've signed Brandon Beavers, Zak Blanchard, Peyton Bourgeois, Andrew McKaskle, and Owen Tauzin.
 
Jackson, a Zachary, Louisiana native, is a three-time state champion and was twice a state runner-up. She won the LHSAA D1 Indoor Championship in the shot put in 2021 and 2022 and was twice the state runner-up in the outdoor shot put. She holds a personal best in the indoor at 42-5.25 meters and 44-9 in the outdoor. She won the 2021 5A Outdoor championship in the discus with a personal best of 141-10.
 
From Benton, Louisiana, Isabelle Russell adds depth to the distance events. In 2021 she was the 5A state runner-up in the 1600. Her personal bests include 2:28.74 in the 800 outdoor, 5:17.43 in the 1600 outdoor, and 11:40.47 in the 3200 outdoor. In indoor her times include 5:31.95 in the 1600 and 12:25.41 in the 3200.
 
Segura comes to Louisiana from Jennings, Louisiana. There she was a three-time state champion at St. Louis High School. She won the 2022 3A outdoor championship in the 1600 and 3200 and was the DII state champion in the 3200 indoor in 2022. She also was the state runner-up in the 1600 indoor and was third in the 800 indoor in 2022. Her top times include 2:20.83 in the 800 outdoor, 5:18.22 in the 1600 outdoor, and 11:40.05 in the 3200 outdoor. Indoors her best times are 2:24.93 in the 800, 5:18.91 in the 1600, and 11:34.53 in the 3200.
 
Sievers is another distance runner from Midland, Louisiana. She finished third in the 2022 Class B 3200 and was fourth in the 800. Her personal best in the 800 outdoor is 2:30.13, 5:37.44 in the 1600 outdoor, and 12:21.44 in the 3200 indoor. Her indoor best times are 2:31.36 in the 800, 5:55.76 in the 1600, and 12:12.45 in the 3200.
 
Another state champion, Kenzie Touchet is a hurdler from St. Louis High School in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Touchet won the 2022 indoor state championship in the 60 m hurdles as well as the 400 m dash. In outdoors she was the 300 m hurdle champion in 2022. Her personal records include 8.87 in the 60 m hurdles, 14.36 in the 100 m hurdles, 43.78 in the 300 m hurdles, 58.75 in the 400 m indoor, and 56.36 in the 400 outdoor.
 
Beavers comes to Louisiana after running for West High School in Magnolia, Texas. There he posted personal bests of 2:00.84 in the 800 outdoor and 4:29.08 in the 1600 outdoor.
 
Blanchard is from New Orleans where he ran at Jesuit High School. His personal bests include a 1:59.27 in the 800 outdoor and 10:39.95 in the 3200 outdoor.
 
From St. Amant, Louisiana, Bourgeois finished eighth in the state indoor championships in the 3200. In that event, his best time is 9:51.63 while in the outdoor it is 9:45.38. His other best times include 2:02.48 in the 800 outdoor, 4:38.12 in the 1600 outdoor, and 15:37.75 in the 3-mile.
 
A Ruston native, McKaskle set personal bests of 2:02.84 in the 800 outdoor, 4:30.96 in the 1600 outdoor, and 4:32.89 in the 1600 indoor.
 
The last signee is a two-time state champion and two-time state runner-up in Tauzin. He won the 2022 3A outdoor state championship in the 800 and 1600 while finishing second in the 3200 and in cross country. His best times include 1:59.54 in the 800 outdoor, 4:29.20 in the 1600 outdoor, 9:52.66 in the 3200, 4:35.91 in the 1600 indoor, 10:00.82 in the 3200 indoor, and 15:40.77 in cross country.
