Chaisson, Segura Pace Cajuns at Southern Showcase

Chaisson was the highest finisher for the men for the second straight event
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Facing some of the toughest competition in the country, the Louisiana cross country team saw Peyton Chaisson and Ella Segura as their top finishers at the Southern Showcase on Friday, September 15 in Huntsville, Alabama.

For the second straight event, Chaisson was the fastest on the men's side with a time of 25:37.50, finishing in 91st. Segura, a freshman, led the women with a time of 18:58.90 to finish 119th.

Not far behind Segura was Haley Salsbury (140) with a time of 19:18.80. Following her was Brooke Spalitta (156) who finished in 19:30.90. Skylar Delgado (19:43.70) and Juliana Courville (19:45.20) finished 1.5 seconds apart to place 167 and 169 respectively. Just behind them was Isabelle Russell (172) with a time of 19:46.00 and Alexandra Johnson (175) with 19:49.00 to round out the runners who scored.

Louden Boudreaux placed 106th with a time of 25:56.20. Owen Tauzin (140) and Mason Haley (141) finished back-to-back less than a second apart with times of 26:30.40 and 26:31.10. Samuel Avants' time of 26:38.40 was good enough for 148th while Peyton Bourgeois (27:12.00, 179th) and Nathan Fontan (27:27.40, 194th) rounded out the scored runners for Louisiana.

Doris Lemngole of Alabama was the women's individual champion, finishing with a time of 16:12.10 while Auburn's Ryan Kinnane was the men's winner with a time of 23:19.90. Ole Miss came away with both the men's and women's team event.

Louisiana returns to action next Saturday, September 23 in Lake Charles at the McNeese Stampede.
