Louisiana Heads East for Weekend Meet

BATON ROUGE – The Louisiana track and field team returns to Baton Rouge this weekend for the LSU Alumni Gold Meet, starting at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 22. The Ragin' Cajuns are coming off a weekend where they won nine events at the Leon Johnson Invite.
Jacqueline Pokuaah had a dazzling week, winning the long jump and triple jump, and was named the Sun Belt Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week. The senior etched her named towards the top of the record books with her jumps becoming the third and second longest in program history.
Sophie Daigle set another school record over the weekend in the women's 10k with a time of 34:19.08. Ta'La Spates also had a big weekend, winning the women's 100-meter and finishing the seventh fastest time in the 200.
The Cajuns also finished first in the women's high jump (Taylor Davis), men's pole vault (Nick Russell), women's steeplechase (Caroline Spalitta), men's steeplechase (Mason Haley), men's 400 (Javed Jones), and men's 5k (Braden Scalisi).
The day begins with the women's hammer throw at 10:30 a.m. and track events start at 2:30 p.m. with the women's 4x100 relay.
