Louisiana Continues Homestand With Battle Against McNeese

LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Baseball team continues its season-long, eight-game homestand on Wednesday when it entertains I-10 rival McNeese in a midweek game at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park.

First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+ and can be heard in the Lafayette area on KPEL-FM (96.5) and worldwide on the Varsity Network app. Live in-game statistics will be available at CajunStats.com.

Louisiana (7-4) salvaged a three-game set against nationally-ranked Campbell, claiming a 14-7 win in the final game of the series on Sunday. Max Marusak's first career grand slam capped an eight-run, first inning for the Ragin' Cajuns in the win.

Heath Hood, who has hit safely in all 11 games this season for Louisiana, is hitting a team-high .419 at the plate with Mason Zambo recording a .400 average at the plate. Hood and Carson Roccaforte have driven in a team-best 10 RBI for the Ragin' Cajuns with Hood swiping a team-high eight bases on the season.

Lafayette native and former Teurlings Catholic product Ben Tate (0-1, 7.36 ERA) will earn his first career start on the mound for Louisiana with McNeese (8-4) countering with right-hander Burrell Jones (1-0, 3.52 ERA).

The Cowboys have won their last five games, beginning with a 5-4 win over Louisiana last week in Lake Charles. Brad Burckel leads McNeese with a .318 batting average and is tied for the team lead with Tré Obregon III with four doubles.

HIGH POINT SERIES SCHEDULE CHANGE
Louisiana will host High Point University (N.C.) in a three-game series beginning on Friday at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park.

Game times are set for Friday (6 p.m.) and Saturday (2 p.m.). The series finale on Sunday, originally scheduled for a 1 p.m. start, has been pushed up one hour to a Noon first pitch.

All three games will be streamed live on ESPN+.
