Louisiana Heads East for Battle of the Bayou

BATON ROUGE – It won't be a far bus ride this weekend for the Louisiana track and field team as they head to Baton Rouge for the Battle of the Bayou at LSU. The Ragin' Cajuns are coming off a hot start to the outdoor season in which they won 18 events at the Louisiana Classics.

Despite facing cooler than normal temperatures the Cajuns were able to record some low times. On the opening day, Sophie Daigle set a facility record in the women's 5k with a time of 16:53.66. The second day saw the Cajus capture 17 events including the men's 4x100 relay, whose time was the fastest in outdoor track so far this spring.

Joining Louisiana in the Battle of the Bayou are host LSU, Nicholls State, Southeastern Louisiana, South Alabama, Southern, New Orleans, and ULM. Southeastern Louisiana, New Orleans, and ULM also competed last weekend in the Louisiana Classics in Lafayette.
