Louisiana Returns to Cajundome for Pivotal Matchup Against Texas State

The Ragin’ Cajuns are playing at home for the first time since Feb. 4

LAFAYETTE, La. – With two regular season games remaining, the Louisiana women's basketball team returns to the Cajundome for the first time in nearly three weeks as it takes on Texas State on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
 
The Ragin' Cajuns (16-12, 10-6 SBC) enter the fray in a tie for sixth in the league standings with Georgia Southern and are a game back from Texas State, Old Dominion and Southern Miss, who the Cajuns close out the regular season against on Friday.
 
Louisiana is coming off a 69-59 loss at Arkansas State on Feb. 18. Tamera Johnson led the way as she posted her seventh double-double of the season with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Her 16-point performance marked the 19th time this season she has scored in double figures.
 
Destiny Rice added 10 points and a career-high eight rebounds while Lanay Wheaton scored 10 points and hauled in three rebounds and a steal.
 
Louisiana has won seven of its last 10 games dating back to Jan. 19. Over that span, Johnson has been the catalyst, leading the team in scoring (13.3 ppg), rebounding (8.5) and steals (20).
 
Texas State has won four of its last five games and is coming off a 20-point win against South Alabama, 77-57. The Bobcats are led by Da'Nasia Hood, who is averaging 16.4 points per game and a team-high 7.6 rebounds. Kennedy Taylor adds 10.4 points per game.
 
Louisiana leads the all-time series against Texas State, 16-12, including a 71-51 victory in San Marcos on Jan. 7. Dating back to the 2019-20 season, the Ragin' Cajuns have won seven of the last nine regular season bouts.
 
Wednesday's game is the Pink Game in which the team will honor and recognize breast cancer survivors.
