Ragin’ Cajuns Look to Secure Double Bye in SBC Championships

Louisiana is 12-0 at home this season with two games left in the Cajundome
LAFAYETTE – The Louisiana men's basketball team looks to lock up a top-four seed in next week's Sun Belt Conference Championships with a win in the final week of the regular season. The Ragin' Cajuns will get their first crack Wednesday night against Arkansas State in the Cajundome at 7:30 p.m. With a top-four seed in the championships, the Cajuns will also earn a double bye and start play in the quarterfinals.
The Cajuns (21-7, 11-5 SBC) split last week's games, winning big over ULM, 84-67 before falling in a tight contest at James Madison, 74-68. Jordan Brown powered the offense, averaging 16 points and grabbing 8.5 rebounds per game. On Saturday he posted game-highs in both points (17) and rebounds (10) to record his sixth double-double of the season.
Louisiana is putting their home winning streak on the line. They have won 13 straight in the Cajundome dating back to last season, including all 12 this season. With a win Wednesday and in Friday's regular season finale, the Cajuns will complete the first perfect home season in program history.
Entering the week Brown is closing in on becoming the 50th player in program history with 1,000 career points, needing just 64 points. Earlier this season he had a monster game against Arkansas State (11-18, 3-13 SBC), going for 31 points and 13 rebounds in the 80-71 win.
The Red Wolves come in struggling, losing 13 of their last 15 overall. They are 1-10 on the road with the only win coming at Old Dominion on December 29 by three points.
