Louisiana split their weekend at home against Nicholls and Houston
Lafayette – Christina Tchanichev won her third match in four tries on Sunday against Houston, but it wasn't enough as the visitors snapped Louisiana's three-match winning streak at Red Leville's Health and Racquet Club, 4-1.
Tchanichev won her singles match over Sophie Schouten, 6-2, 6-2, on court four in convincing fashion. The freshman finished the week 2-0 and improved to 3-3 in her college career. Over on court three, Angelique Berrat held the lead, 7-5, 4-2, before the match was called in favor of the Cougars. Tchanichev's win had tied the match at one-point each, but Louisiana dropped contests on courts one, two, and five in the defeat.
Doubles play was close to open the day. After the Cougars won on court three, Momoko Yoshimura and Angel Santiago fell on court two, 6-4. Over on court one, Carla Urchoeguia and Angelique Berrat were in a tiebreaker battle. Their match was 6-6 (4-4) before the point was decided.
