LAFAYETTE, La. – Louisiana women's tennis recorded its third-consecutive match as the Ragin' Cajuns defeated Nicholls, 5-2, on Friday at the Red Lerille's Health & Racquet Club.
The Cajuns (3-2) secured the doubles point as Lucie Raquin and Cristina Tchanichev defeated Simona Maksimovi and Sophia Sara Safarova, 6-2, on court three. Momoko Yoshimura and Angel Santiago clinched the point with a 6-3 victory on court two over Dareen Hassan and Carla Bouygues.
On court one, Angelique Berrat and Carla Urchoeguia were tied 5-5 against Laura Lopez and Constanza Cruz.
In singles, Berrat quickly defeated Hassan, 6-1, 6-2 on court three before Raquin gave Louisiana a 3-0 lead with a 6-1, 6-2 triumph over Maksimovic.
Urchoeguia secured the victory for the Ragin' Cajuns as she topped Safarova, 6-4, 6-2, on court two. After the Colonels won on court five, Tchanichev won a thrilling point on court four, toppling Cruz, 6-2, 3-6, 1-0 (5).
